Wage and hour issues are one of the common denominators of employment law; they apply to companies of all sizes and across all industries. Litigation of wage and hour claims, particularly in the class action format, has plagued employers for the past decade and represents the biggest employment litigation risk facing employers. The California Supreme Court’s opinion this year regarding the legal test for independent contractor status has increased risk around classification of individuals as independent contractors. This seminar will review the basic wage and hour rules, including independent contractor classification, and other issues relevant to most employers, including:
- Employee v. Contractor Classification Issues
- Exempt v. Non-Exempt Classification Issues
- Meal Period And Rest Break Rules
- Comp Time And Make-Up Time
- Alternative Work Schedules
- Payment Of Final Wages
