Palo Alto, San Francisco and San Jose, Calif., January 8, 2019 – Hopkins & Carley, a preeminent Silicon Valley law firm, announced today that four attorneys joined the firm in the first week of 2019.
Donica Forenisch and Chiara Portner are new members of the firm’s Corporate Department. Donica’s practice focuses on corporate and commercial transactions. Chiara’s area of expertise is technology transactions, including privacy and data protection.

Sean Bothamley and Andrew Ditlevsen joined the firm as associates in the Litigation Department. Sean has over four years of experience in employment and labor law matters, and Andrew is a sixth-year commercial litigator who has trial and other litigation experience with real estate, banking, bankruptcy and general commercial disputes.

Donica Forensich (San Jose, Corporate): Donica joins Hopkins & Carley as Of Counsel in the firm’s Corporate Department. She has more than 12 years of experience representing public and private companies across a range of corporate and commercial matters. She advises clients on incorporation through seed and venture financings, buy- and sell-side M&A transactions, and a wide range of technology licensing and commercial agreements. Prior to joining Hopkins & Carley, Donica was a partner with Paradigm Counsel. She also was Senior Legal Director at Infinera Corporation, Senior Counsel at Sun Microsystems and an attorney in the Corporate and Securities Group at DLA Piper.
Chiara Portner (Palo Alto, Corporate): Chiara joins Hopkins & Carley as Of Counsel in the firm’s Corporate Department as part of the Licensing, Technology & Intellectual Property Transactions practice. She has more than 16 years of experience in privacy and security compliance, licensing, commercial contracts, intellectual property and technology-based transactions. Chiara advises on open source and dual license models; technology, content and music licensing; commercial and IP aspects of financing and acquisition transactions; and privacy and data protection. Prior to joining Hopkins & Carley, she was a partner with Paradigm Counsel. Previously, she was with DLA Piper.
Sean Bothamley (San Jose, Employment & Labor): Sean joins Hopkins & Carley as an associate in the Employment and Labor group. His practice focus includes wage and hour, wrongful termination, sexual harassment disputes, and other employment-related matters. Prior to joining Hopkins & Carley, Sean was an associate at the Advocacy Center for Employment Law in San Jose.
Andrew Ditlevsen (San Jose, Litigation): Andrew is a member of Hopkins & Carley’s Litigation Department. He focuses his practice on real estate, banking and business law disputes, as well as advising creditors and in collection and bankruptcy matters. He has tried cases in both federal and state courts. He joins Hopkins & Carley from Sweeney, Mason, Wilson & Bosomworth. Prior to that, Andrew was with Terra Law LLP.
