Ruby Kazi

Ruby Kazi is a member of Hopkins & Carley’s Litigation practice. Ruby is an experienced litigator with a focus on crisis management, with matters ranging from defending harassment suits to pursuing workplace violence prevention.  She has significant experience at both the trial and appellate levels in state and federal courts.

Prior to joining Hopkins & Carley, Ruby was a partner at McManis Faulkner.

  • Obtained defense verdict in federal jury trial of a civil rights case brought by protesters against an entertainment company.
  • Successfully defended appeal of an employer’s workplace violence restraining order obtained on behalf of the company’s employees, under the unique circumstances of a mobile workplace.
  • Prevailed against federal government in first trial ever to challenge the constitutionality of terrorist watch lists, including the No-Fly List.
  • Aggressively pursued breach of contract claim on behalf of client seeking to recover on an oral contract, ultimately obtaining a favorable settlement for the client.
  • Successfully negotiated and resolved a land dispute involving an improperly recorded easement.
  • Successfully defended an entertainment company in a federal jury trial stemming from a harassment suit filed by two animal rights activists.
  • Obtained workplace violence restraining order on behalf of law firm against former employee.
  • Defeated summary judgment on behalf of civil rights plaintiff, leading to favorable settlement of claims.
  • Obtained workplace violence restraining orders on behalf of an entertainment company against violent protesters.
  • Secured a workplace violence restraining order on behalf of employer against disgruntled former employee.
  • Defended client in the hospitality industry in a class action tip pooling case.
  • Defended trustee in criminal, probate and civil matters stemming from charges of alleged embezzlement.
  • Attained favorable settlements for individual and corporate clients in a variety of matters.
