Palo Alto, San Francisco and San Jose, Calif., May 29, 2018 – Hopkins & Carley, a preeminent Silicon Valley law firm with offices in Palo Alto, San Francisco, and San Jose, is pleased to announce that Jason Angell, whose practice principally involves intellectual property and other matters for technology companies, has joined the firm’s Palo Alto office as Of Counsel in the Intellectual Property Litigation Practice.
Following nearly ten years at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, in 2011 Angell and other Orrick attorneys left to found the firm that later became known as Freitas Angell & Weinberg LLP. An experienced trial lawyer, Angell has successfully litigated cases for domestic and international companies involving technologies, including computer software and hardware, semiconductors, consumer electronics devices, medical devices, and biotechnology. A member of the Patent Bar, Angell represents clients in patent litigation matters nationwide, as well as before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. He also brings to Hopkins & Carley substantial experience in defending against and prosecuting antitrust claims, including price fixing and monopolization.

Angell received his JD from University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Prior to law school, Angell worked for several years in genetic research, including two years at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.
